Fully Funded ARES Scholarship 2025-26 Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees

Are you a national of an ARES partner country? Do you have a higher education degree? Do you have professional experience and would you like to deepen your skills in a development-related topic?

The ARES scholarships offer you the opportunity to follow a one-year advanced bachelor’s or master’s degree program or a 2-to-6-month continuing education program within a higher education institution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium.

The call for applications for the academic year 2025-2026 is now open.

To fill in the application form, go to the GIRAF platform.

Deadline:  October 18, 2024 at 12pm.

Documents Required:

  • 2 letters of recommendation (academic and/or professional);
  • Certified copies of the original diplomas;
  • Certified copies of the original transcripts for all years;
  • Proof of occupation for the last 5 years;
  • Certificate of nationality or copy of passport;
  • Pre-project (for certain courses – see the admission conditions specific to the courses)

The candidate must:

  • Be a national of, reside in, and work in one of the 31 eligible countries (list below);
  • Be a holder of:
    • a diploma comparable to a 2nd cycle diploma (300 ECTS credits) from a Belgian university for specialized masters and continuing education courses;
    • a diploma comparable to a 1st cycle diploma (180 ECTS credits) from Belgian higher education for specialization baccalaureates.
  • Demonstrate at least two years of f relevant professional experience in an ARES partner country.

How to apply?

  • Online via the GIRAF platform.
  • Steps to follow to apply:
    1. Have a Giraf account (create one or use your account if it has already been created and validated by ARES).
    2. Access the application form by clicking on Application for international training > My tasks > Competitive calls.
    3. Fill in the form (it can be filled in several times. You can find it in Competitive calls > My tasks ).
    4. Please submit your application by clicking on Submit my application. Once submitted, you will be able to consult your file in the My Submitted Files table. However, you will no longer be able to modify it.

  • In Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
  • In South America and the Caribbean: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Haiti, Peru.
  • Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Vietnam.
  • In Asia: Palestinian territory.

Duration?

  • Bachelor’s and specialized master’s degrees: 12 months maximum.
  • Continuing training: 2 to 6 months maximum.

Financial support?

The scholarship includes:

  • International travel expenses;
  • Subsistence allowance;
  • Exceptional costs associated with visa applications (only for bachelor’s degrees and specialized master’s degrees);
  • Tuition fees (only for bachelor’s degrees and specialized master’s degrees);
  • Indirect mission expenses (for continuing education only);
  • Insurance costs.
