Last-Minute Recruitments and Payments Shall Be Reversed – Ofosu Kwaky

Accra, December 17, 2024

The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to the outgoing administration regarding last-minute recruitments, payments, and promotions. In a press statement signed by spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the team expressed concern over violating an agreement reached by the Joint Transition Team.

According to the statement, the agreement from the second meeting of the Joint Transition Team, held on Friday, December 13, 2024, required that all significant actions, including recruitment, payments, and transfers, be cleared with the team. However, the statement claims the outgoing NPP government continues to carry out these actions “without recourse to the agreement.”

The Mahama Transition Team emphasized that any last-minute payments, recruitments, promotions, or transfers made in bad faith by the outgoing administration will be reversed. They further warned that public officials involved in these acts could face strict accountability measures once the formal transfer of power is complete.

The statement also urged public officials to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to participate in such activities, cautioning that severe consequences may follow when the new government assumes office.
