This fully funded three-month program is designed for international professionals from diverse backgrounds who seek to deepen their practical policy skills and contribute meaningfully to the global conversation on AI governance.

Whether you’re an academic, policymaker, technologist, or legal expert, this fellowship empowers you to address the real-world challenges and opportunities of advanced AI through hands-on experience and expert collaboration.

About the Fellowship

Organized by IAPS, the fellowship offers a flexible three-month program from September 1 to November 21, 2025, which can be completed remotely or in-person in Washington, D.C. However, all fellows are required to participate in a 12-day residential session in D.C. from September 1–12, 2025. This is a unique chance to engage with leading experts, network with professionals, and work on meaningful policy initiatives that will shape the future of AI.

What You’ll Gain

The fellowship is fully funded, with competitive stipends provided:

  • Senior Fellows: $22,000 stipend
  • Junior Fellows: $15,000 stipend
  • Student Internships are also available

In addition to financial support, fellows will receive:

  • Mentorship from global experts in AI and policy
  • Opportunities to lead or contribute to high-impact projects
  • Skill-building in policy research, regulatory frameworks, and strategy

  • Geopolitics of AI and international relations
  • Hardware-enabled governance solutions
  • Jurisdiction-specific AI policies (U.S., U.K., E.U.)

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the IAPS AI Policy Fellowship 2025, you must:

  • Be from any country – international applicants are welcome
  • No technical AI background is required
  • Be eligible to legally work in the U.S. for the duration (for D.C.-based fellows)
  • Demonstrate strong experience, motivation, and interest in AI policy
