As artificial intelligence (AI) technology advances, concerns about its impact on jobs continue to grow. Fields like IT, accounting, and customer service are seeing rapid AI integration, leading some to fear widespread job losses. While AI presents undeniable challenges, many argue that it will not replace workers outright—only those who fail to adapt.

At DTC OfficialGh, we explore innovation, transformation, and the future of work. We reached out to our readers and industry experts to understand how AI might shape employment in the coming years.

The Fear of Job Loss: A Real Concern?

Reader Cuong Pham, an IT professional, shares his concerns about AI’s growing influence:

“AI might not fully replace humans in the near future, but it is making work faster and more efficient. When tasks are completed more quickly, fewer workers are needed. In IT, I see how powerful AI is. Young people are right to worry about job security. The best strategy is to focus on careers that blend both human interaction and technology.”

This concern is not unfounded. According to a study by Gartner, AI automation is projected to eliminate millions of jobs globally while simultaneously creating new opportunities in emerging fields. The real challenge is ensuring workers adapt to this shift.

The Future of Accounting: Will AI Take Over?

A prominent industry expert once predicted that AI could replace 80% of human accountants—a statement that has fueled anxiety among finance professionals. However, the reality is more nuanced.

Reader Thichgiacnguyen offers a practical perspective, emphasizing the continued need for human expertise:

To stay relevant, I focus on mastering two key areas: specialized accounting software and advanced Excel skills like SQL and BI for efficient data processing. Mastering these takes time and effort—at least three years of continuous practice.

Also, have you considered small and medium-sized businesses? Many in Vietnam, and likely in Ghana, are not willing to invest heavily in AI systems. They still rely on accountants to collect and input raw data. And who negotiates contracts, sets product prices, and finds suppliers? Humans—not AI.

Even companies that use AI-powered accounting software still calculate payroll manually before entering figures into the system. AI can’t fully automate this process, but humans can.”

This highlights an important point: AI may assist accountants, but it cannot entirely replace them—at least not yet. Accounting laws and regulations change frequently, requiring human oversight to ensure compliance and accuracy.

AI as a Tool, Not a Threat

Reader Hoang Thanh believes AI only threatens those who fail to upskill:

People feared robots would take their jobs when they first appeared. The same fear exists today with AI. But how many businesses can afford to fully automate their operations? AI programs are efficient, but they still require significant investment.

In my opinion, AI will replace those who don’t learn how to use it. Skilled workers who embrace AI as a tool won’t lose their jobs. Take financial reporting, for example. AI can generate data, but humans still need to verify it. I’ve tested AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini, and they sometimes fabricate data when given unclear instructions. That’s a serious financial risk only humans can mitigate.

The Path Forward: Embrace AI, Don’t Fear It

The conversation around AI and job security is complex, but one thing is clear: AI is a tool, not a replacement for human intelligence. Those who learn to work alongside AI will thrive, while those who resist change risk falling behind.

At DTC OfficialGh, we believe in the power of transformation. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or an entrepreneur, the key to job security in an AI-driven world is continuous learning and adaptability. AI isn’t here to take your job—it’s here to help you do it better.
