Profile of the Month: Ama Duncan – The Woman Building a Network of Doers and Leaders

Every so often, a story comes along that reminds us why dreams matter, why they save, shape, and shift lives. Ama Duncan’s journey is one of those stories.

Before she became the founder of a women’s movement, a corporate trainer, author, coach, and international speaker, Ama almost didn’t make it into this world. Yes, her mother once considered ending the pregnancy. But then something extraordinary happened: she had a dream. A dream so vivid and compelling that she changed her mind.
Today, that unborn child is a grown woman whose life is inspiring thousands, including her own mother, who now calls her “inspiring and amazing.” And truth be told, those two words don’t even begin to capture the powerhouse that is Ama Duncan.

From Corporate Hallways to a Global Sisterhood
Ama started off in Ghana’s corporate space, serving in roles like Learning & Development Manager. But something kept tugging at her, a calling to do more, to empower more, to lift up the stories and potential of women around her.

In 2015, she founded The Fabulous Woman Network (FWN). What started as a platform to share stories of inspiring women soon grew into a full-blown movement. FWN is now a hub for personal development, business coaching, leadership training, and youth empowerment, reaching women and girls across Ghana and beyond.
Ama’s work through FWN has seen her collaborate with organizations like GIZ, USAID, the British Council, World Connect, and others. She’s also a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow, a recognition that placed her among Africa’s most promising and impactful young leaders.

A New Vision: The Fabulous Retreat Center by 2030
She recently unveiled plans to build a women’s retreat center, a serene, sustainable space designed specifically for rest, renewal, and reconnection. The retreat center, hoping to be completed by 2030, will offer comfortable lodging, healthy meals, and a rich blend of programs, including workshops, meditation, wellness activities, and other personal development experiences.

“It will be a safe and empowering space for women to heal, grow, and find clarity,” Ama says.
This isn’t just another training facility. It’s a bold reimagination of what support for women can look like in Africa.

It’s not just about business. It’s about building confidence, cultivating resilience, and creating generational impact.

Why Ama Stands Out
Ama Duncan’s story is beautiful not just because of her accomplishments, but because of her authenticity and heart. She doesn’t position herself as someone with all the answers. Instead, she shows up fully, with laughter, vulnerability, and the deep belief that:
Every woman is fabulous and capable of greatness.”
When she says, “I train women to be doers and leaders,” it’s not a slogan, it’s a reality she lives and helps others live too.
