By 120th day, they will have fulfilled every promise made.

Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Edem Agbana, has confidently declared that by the 120th day of President Mahama’s administration, every promise made during the 2024 election campaign will be fulfilled. In a Joy News interview, Agbana praised the swift execution of the government’s commitments, emphasizing that significant progress has already been made within the first 85 days.

“In the lead-up to the 2024 general elections, President Mahama made bold commitments to Ghanaians and attached clear timelines to some of these promises, now referred to as the ‘120 Days Pact.’ We have already completed 85 days, and I am highly impressed with the pace of implementation. I have no doubt that when I return here on the 120th day, we will be scoring 100%,” Agbana stated.

He highlighted that some projects that have yet to commence are already in advanced planning stages, assuring Ghanaians that no commitment will be left unfulfilled.
Addressing the credibility of President Mahama, Agbana referenced an Afrobarometer report, which indicated that Ghanaians trusted Mahama more than his opponent from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). “Trustworthiness is one of President Mahama’s key strengths. It played a major role in the overwhelming victory he secured in December 2024,” he added.

Legislative Progress and Economic Reforms
Discussing key legislative changes, Agbana acknowledged that some reforms, such as the repeal of the Electronic Levy (E-Levy), required procedural steps before full implementation. “We live in a democratic state where we respect due process. If President Mahama had the power to unilaterally repeal the E-Levy on day one, he would have done it. However, the process had to go through Parliament,” he explained.

He detailed how Parliament recently passed the amendment bill, which was then sent to the President’s desk for assent. “The President has now signed it, and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will complete the necessary adjustments, likely by close of day tomorrow,” Agbana assured.

In addition to the E-Levy repeal, the government has also eliminated the controversial 10% tax on betting winnings, another key campaign promise. “I personally staked my political career on this promise. In August 2023, I assured Ghanaians on social media that President Mahama would scrap this tax, and here we are, less than three months into his administration, and it is done,” he stated triumphantly.
With continued legislative efforts and economic reforms underway, Agbana reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fulfilling all promises made to the Ghanaian people. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining whether the government can indeed achieve its ambitious 120-day pledge.
