Who Should Apply?

Eligibility Requirements

✅ Recent PhD graduates (completed no earlier than January 1, 2023; extensions available for career interruptions).
✅ Degree in natural sciences or engineering (includes computer science & mathematics).
✅ No concurrent postdoctoral fellowships—must resign from other positions if awarded.
✅ Supervisor with a full-time U of T appointment (AI co-supervisor required if primary lacks AI expertise).

Note: Priority is given to new postdoctoral projects with new supervisors. Previous recipients of prestigious U of T fellowships are ineligible.

  • Academic excellence & leadership in their field
  • Strong potential for AI adoption in their research
  • A compelling research vision with clear AI applications

  4. AI in Science Training Plan (1 page)
  5. Candidate Statement (2 pages)
  6. Leadership Contributions Summary (1 page)

  8. Two confidential reference letters (submitted by referees to the supervisor)
  9. Applicant Demographic Survey (confidential)
